Imagine a more connected,
thriving Trenton.
Imagine a more connected,
thriving Trenton.
We have an opportunity to reimagine Route 29 by transforming it into a boulevard, adding green space, and linking pedestrian access and recreation to the river. A reconnected Trenton will provide possibilities for enhanced recreation, open spaces and mobility, stronger communities, and a more prosperous downtown. Reconnecting Trenton’s Riverfront is a campaign calling on everyone—residents, community leaders, and decision-makers—to come together and take action toward transforming the riverfront into a space that serves all of Trenton.
Riverfront Reclamation!
Trenton was once deeply connected to the Delaware River, with vibrant waterfront parks, grand civic buildings, and links to diverse neighborhoods. But in the name of “urban renewal,” the construction of Route 29 severed that connection—prioritizing cars over people, displacing communities, and replacing thriving spaces with parking lots and isolated office buildings.
Restoring access to the waterfront and converting the highway to a boulevard will:
- Make Trenton a safer place to walk, cycle, and gather
- Build stronger connections between neighborhoods
- Enable the development of a park system
- Drive a thriving business community and economic growth
Let's Make it Happen!
Reconnecting Trenton’s Riverfront is a campaign made up of residents, organizations, and local decision-makers who advocate for a better future for Trenton. Over the coming months, the campaign will host a series of workshops and engagement sessions so the community can learn more, voice their opinions, and get involved.
